Chronology - 1970s and 1980s

1972 February 4–  The Schlicker organ was dedicated May 11 - Chimes for the organ were dedicated. 1976 January – Carol Weiberg was hired as church secretary.  Prior to this, Ida Rogers, followed by Gerda Zonak, had aided the pastor with creating the weekly bulletins, and other secretarial tasks. September – Willy Merklinger became secretary, as Carol went on maternity leave   1981 We raised $46,000 for the synodical offering, Forward in Remembrance. 1983 $42,000 was raised for the Building Fund of Concordia Seminary, St.Catharines. 1988 February  – The first issue of Redeemer Reflections was published. May – Pastor Vuorinen and Ross Merklinger represented our congregation at the Founding Convention of Lutheran Church-Canada in Winnipeg. 1989 January 1 – Lutheran Church-Canada became an indigenous Synod, a partner of the          Missouri Synod. Early in the year, our Young at Heart group was started. December – The congregation voted to proceed with the proposed expansion of our facility. Continue to 1990s...
